Maybe you want to kick it into high gear and feel more energized in your body. Or maybe you want to unwind and cool down from the chaos of the season. Either way, Pure Motion is here to help you recommit to your Yoga practice. Our teacher training program is in full swing, and we are currently exploring the theme of DISCIPLINE - because it's easy to lose sight of what matters, and it's easy to forget about what makes you feel good. Yoga Sutra 1.2 states that "Yogas chitta vritti nirodha," which means "Yoga is the cessation of the mind-stuff." So how are you stepping up your Yoga game?
What are you doing to remain calm no matter what life throws at you? Practicing discipline doesn't have to be painful, nor should it feel like a punishment. Instead, it offers us the opportunity to expand our knowledge and stretch beyond our own perceived limitations. If you want to quickly cultivate discipline and calm the fluctuations of your mind, here is a breathing exercise: Sama Vritti Pranayama (Equal Parts Breath) + Inhale for 4 counts & Exhale for 4 counts. + Repeat this 10 times. + Slowly, become aware of a gentle pause that happens in the space between your Inhale & Exhale. Without forcing or holding your breath, continue breathing 4 counts inhale & exhale, listening to the pause between your breaths. + Continue for 3 minutes.
You can do this any time, any place when you want to get channel your energy and harness the power of your mind.
